The Food Struggle
Me and hubby are trying to figure out how to get our 4-year-old to stop being so picky and eat better and it’s starting to stress me to the max. I don’t know what to do anymore. 🤷🏻♀️
Every meal time is a struggle. The only way she will eat without giving us a hard time is if it’s chicken nuggets, cereal, PB&J;, or candy. She refuses to eat anything that is not junk food. We have ended up cutting all junk from her diet because we are tired of her eating just enough junk to not starve and then not eating any real meals.
We have been supplying her with multiple relatively healthy options and most of them are things that she does like. I’ve been giving her half a peanut butter sandwich with no jelly cause I know she’ll eat that and I’ll give her something else with it like carrots and she’ll eat the half a sandwich and then never actually eat the other stuff even tho I know she’s hungry.
She will take hours to eat something if you let her. So we have made it to where she sits at the table for 30 minutes and she either eats it or she doesn’t but then we go out and I have to listen to her whine about being hungry because she wouldn’t eat her food. She refuses most snack times because she knows that it’ll be fruit or something. She just wants chips and cookies.
We give her water and milk mostly and sometimes watered down juice. I feel like she isn’t getting enough fluids tho. She was given a cup of water this morning at breakfast because that’s what she chose and by bedtime hadn’t drank half of it. I feel like she is starving and dehydrating herself but I’m not going to give in and start giving her junk again... I just feel like I’m losing this battle with her.
