Buying baby things before getting pregnant?

Hey all! Just wanted your opinions. Take the question as you will, I know some people don’t out of fear of disappointment; and some just don’t have the money.
Some do! If you do, what did you get?

I don’t see why you can’t or shouldn’t. It isn’t going jinx it. I created a baby registry already and I’m not pregnant! I’ve seen some women on here TTC for a long time and I read a story from one every time she gets a negative test she buys something for her future child because she knows it’ll happen and gives her hope.

I went to a baby convention (big city moms biggest baby shower). With the ticket I bought, you get a bounceroo (which I returned to babies r us for store credit), a gift which was a 3 pack of Tula swaddle blankets and a huge gift bag full of diapers, wipes, a onesie, pacifiers, bottles etc. I also got the Amazon baby registry boxes which were free (more swaddle blankets, baby bottle, wipes and diapers). I also bought a stroller because it was the bugaboo I want when I have a baby and someone was selling it online for $75 (it’s an $800 stroller). So currently I have a ton of diapers and random baby stuff. That way I don’t have to spend so much money all at once when I’m finally pregnant. I figure if for whatever reason I can’t use them, I’ll give the stuff to friends who are currently pregnant and resell the stroller. This will be my 3rd month TTC.

My husband and I started buying stuff two years before we started TTC. We love owls and elephants and those were really popular - we didn’t want to miss out out on the cute things we both loved.

Starting on our honeymoon my husband and I buy a onesie every place we travel or move to! It’s a nice keepsake to have for us and a reminder of how excited we are to start our family!

I bought a couple outfits before I ever got pregnant. Mostly girl stuff because it’s just too dang cute to resist! It still hasn’t been used as my first child was a boy 🤦🏻‍♀️ it will be put to use here in a couple months though when baby girl gets here. 🤗

I bought a onesie back in the summer. Felt like I was pregnant that month. Was late and everything. Ended up having a UTI. Most heart breaking thing I went through thinking my body knew and the onesie brought luck or something I don't know. Hard to explain. But since then I  haven't bought anything else and have buried that onesie.
