my 6yo has come back from dads missing a heap of eyelashes... she claims she didnt pluck em out, but its looking really weird and its worrying me

My cousin used to pluck out her eyelashes a lot, for years she did this. Started cause she was really stressing bad we think, started after her mom got a new bf.. It looked like that, hopefully it's nothing bad..

There is a mental condition that is usually started with anxiety or stress. It causes you to pull out your eyelashes, eyebrows, and head hair. I started with my eyebrows then eyelashes. It gets to the point that you do it subconsciously until you start bleeding or swelling. I’ve pulled almost all my eyelashes out before without irritation but once you do it more and more it becomes swollen and red, painful to touch. There’s also a risk of pulling out the roots entirely and never being able to regrow them. There is however an eyelash growth serum that you can order online, put it on one or two times a day and they’ll grow back faster. My parents didn’t believe me until it got really bad so try to understand and even see a doctor for treatments.

Has she been stressed? Maybe she has alopecia? I would keep an eye on it. If she starts losing more eyelashes or hair, take her to the doctor.

When I was a kid I would pluck my eyebrows off then after that I would pluck my eyelashes because of stress for believing that my parents were divorced because of me

my honest thoughts is: I see she has blonde hair so maybe im not seeing all her eyebrows (yes I know this is about lashes) either. in my own experience the loss/thinness of lashes and eyebrows was due to a vitamin deficiency. so if you notice it gets worse or thinner go to the doctor.

My daughter fell and bumped her head... she didn’t hit her eyelid but ended up with a little missing patch.  It regrew after a bit though

She may not realize she’s plucking them out if she’s under severe stress. A college friend of mine plucked her own eyebrow hair out without noticing while studying all the time.
