Anyone else get nervous checking their IUD strings?

I’m always so nervous I’m going to accidentally pull it or something when I’m doing a string check. I guess if that was a common thing to happen, IUDS would be much less effective...

I was nervous too, but a week after I finally did and it wasn't bad at all. When you do it just reach one finger up there and you should feel it. Don't grasp the string just feel it. If you dont feel it, don't panic just wait another couple hours or so and try again. Sometimes it curves up around your cervix(not a bad thing). Also, remember that during different parts of the month the string could be at different lengths. At first the strings almost feel sharp when you touch, them, but they soon soften up due to the acidic environment of a vagina.
