brown discharge 3days before period

i’ve been on ortho try cyclen lo since july 31 2017. my period is due the 10th but i started having cramps and brown discharge (looks exactly like old blood) on the 7th. i’ve had this happen before and the first month or so i was on this, i bled an entire week early than i was supposed to. ive been taking this month’s pack perfectly(10pm every night on the dot. the latest i ever was was maybe once or twice by like 30 mins)

is it break through bleeding since i’ve only been on it for 5 months(if my math is right)
