Question: Itchy Vagina

I'm having an mildly itchy vagina today and there has been some discharge but these symptoms have happened before and gone away (?). Internet is telling me it may be a yeast infection but what should I do? I have a doctors appointment next week but it sounds incredibly awkward to mention it. Am I also supposed to go to a specific type of doctor? Please help :(
