Cramping on birth control?

I started my birth control for the first time on Sunday while on my period. My period ended earlier than usual, but I just now started to get really bad cramping. 
Is it normal to get cramps while on birth control? I’ve only been on it for a couple days.

I’ve just gotten horrible cramping too from it. I was on the pills, then the depo, and I’m back to the pills. Now that I’m back on it my periods have been full of painful cramping with a side of headaches and diarrhea. It’s horrible. I would check and see if they have any other kind that would help take away the cramps.
