Our 33 Week 2 Day Champion!

Je

Our son, Weston was born on Saturday, 1/6/18 at 8:11pm. He was 7 weeks early and came due to a placental abruption. Luckily, I got to the hospital in time and the doctors were able to get him out quickly via c-section. It was a scary experience but both mommy and baby are fine. He weighed 5lbs 1oz at the time of birth and was 18 1/4” long. He is currently in the NICU and is doing great! He’s so strong, loves to be swaddled, loves his pacifier, is breathing on his own, and eats so much. Hopefully he’ll only have to stay at the hospital for another week, until he is 35 weeks, but if the doctors and nurses deem it necessary for him to stay longer, then so be it. Anything to make him as healthy and happy as possible. I will say, when I was discharged and had to leave the hospital without him, it was the worst thing ever! I felt like a huge part of me was missing. I don’t wish that feeling upon any mother. I never knew I could feel so much love for someone in my life. He is my world and my champion!

UPDATE: Weston came home on Thursday, after a week and a half in the NICU. While in the NICU, he lost a little bit of weight, which is normal. He went down to 4lbs 14oz but by his discharge, he was back up to his birth weight. He had his first pediatrician appointment yesterday and weighed 5lbs 2.5oz. He gained an oz and a half and is now over his birth weight. He also went from measuring at 18 1/4” long to now being 18 3/4”. He’s eating really well. The biggest issue is his gas and acid reflux so we are trying to do things to make him more comfortable but there’s not much to do. Thanks to everyone for the kind words!
