Is the vulva self cleaning or does it require some maintenance?

My ob said to use Dove and water. I also pat it dry with a soft t shirt (i only use it for tht purpose and i wash it twice a week).

I totally misread that. the vagina is self cleaning but I certainly still clean it. inside and out. I don't use soap inside to avoid irritation but I don't feel as fresh if I don't clean it all.
