Does having a sweep really work?

So I have 1 week left and I can't wait any longer. I just want to meet my little princess now. Booked in for a sweep when I'm 40+1 so a week tomorrow, hopefully it will work. What's everyone's experiences with membrane sweeps? Did they work for you?

I had one at 40+3 and had my daughter at 11pm the next night ☺ deffo started my labour, I woke up at 2:30am with contractions every 5mins ☺ good luck!

If your body is ready for labor it can help get things going. If not, it’s just painful. 
I had mine done at 40 weeks and I gave birth four days later. It definitely started my labor!

I had two, one at 39 weeks and one at 40 weeks but neither did anything, I was induced at 41 weeks. Good luck! I hope it works for you!
