My doctor did them as soon as you became sexually active, wanted birth control, or turned 18, whichever happened first.

I didn’t have my first one until I was 23. I was super embarrassed and nervous about the whole thing. But honestly, it was nothing. I had no pain at all, only a little spotting for the next day. Yes, it was weird having a stranger all up in my business but it was worth it knowing that all is well down there. It only lasted 5 minutes.

I had my first last year at 21, and am having a follow up again in a few months (as they recommend a follow up a year after your first smear in my country).

as soon as your sexually active it's advised to have one and of course I feel it is a necessary test due to the risk factors I have and I think any woman should be aware of their vaginal health and make sure your cells are normal although I do understand that they are uncomfortable but it's for the best.

Wow I’ve been getting them a long time probably since I was 16 and I’m 26 now...idk I always want to be safe. Well now I only get them to check for abnormalities after having kids I needed a cervix biopsy

Yeah in the hospital they asked me how old I was and then said I wasn’t old enough for a smear test and then informed me that the aged had gone up to 25!! 🤷‍♀️

I don't like the "stupid" option. however, I started having mine done once I became sexually active. Which I think is supposed to happen, at least in the US. esp. if you have a prior family history with issues regarding the female anatomy.
