Ultrasound for ectopic?

Saw doc today because I've been having light twinges on my lower right side... hcg and progesterone levels are good but he wants to rule out an ectopic/tubal pregnancy. I'm so nervous, even though he said it's probably all fine. I'm trying to let go of my fear and concentrate on the possibility of seeing bub's heartbeat. 
Any advice from people who have had this scan? What I should expect?

I had an ectopic back in July. It was very visiably in my left tube. I had a lot of pain and bleeding, which is why I had gone into my dr in the first place. My levels were very low, and werent rising nearly as much as they were supposed to be.

I was having the same thing going on. They just do an ultrasound. I ended up having a cyst on my ovary. If you aren’t bleeding it’s most likely not ectopic. It could also be just normal pains from your uterus growing.
