Freebleeding?

So I’m a college student on a really limited budget. Right now I have about $16 and I try to cut costs where I can. Lately I’ve been using folded paper towels or washcloths during my period. I’ve actually not minded it. Is it sanitary to use washcloths? I just throw them in the washer and change them frequently. Is this considered freebleeding?

It may be worth looking into a menstrual cup. Menstrual cups are reusable for 2-3 years, environmentally friendly, no period smell, up to 12 hours of leak free protection, no risk of toxic shock syndrome. I switched to the Diva cup 7 months ago and its the best money I’ve ever spent!

No .. freebleeding is nothing at all. Washcloths are fine. Same with paper towel but washcloths would be less expensive .  Paper towel ain't cheap.

They make underwear that can be washed to take the place of pads. Never tried them but may be a better more comfortable alternative

Have you considered reusable products? They had reusable pads which us the same concept as the washcloth but a softer material and proper shape (they also have really cute designs) or a menstrual cup which is my go to choice. They can get a little pricey but in the long run its so worth it if you can save a little up to buy you wont have to spend more for years. But free bleeding would be absolutely nothing.

I heard paper towel can be a little unsanitary, but wash cloths are pretty much reusable pads so I think you’re doing good.
