sick and breastfeeding??

I just caught a cold and I’m a breast feeding mom, is it anything safe to take? and will I have to stop breastfeeding untill my cold blow over?

There is no reason to stop breastfeeding. You can still healthfully breastfeed with a cold. As far as medications go, call your Dr or pediatrician. They know what is safe to take while breastfeeding.

I would stay away from decongestants, as they may hurt your supply. I stuck to Tylenol/Advil & hot tea with honey/lemon. Don't stop breastfeeding, your antibodies will help protect your baby from catching your cold!

Don’t stop breastfeeding!!! The antibodies will help protect LO. I just recently got over a cold, rested as much as I could.. went to sleep the same time my daughter did(8pm) Napped when she napped, and lived on hot black tea with honey.

Continue breastfeeding as normal. Just buy  the disposable masks from Walmart so you don't pass cold to baby. I've been there

Check out Sambuactin triple strength. it's natural and safe to take while breastfeeding according to my practitioner. You may want to check with yours first of course. It's been a lifesaver for me more than once. it's an immune booster and i take it and a preventative and up the dose if i start coming down with something or after I know I've been exposed to something.

It's actually recommended to keep breastfeeding. I took Sudafed & delsym for my colds & they didn't affect my supply at all. I was told those things are safe to take while nursing
