Tampon Advice??

I'm 13 and for some reason my mom doesn't want me using tampons. I asked her why and she just said "Leticia, how much do you want me to spell it out! Your putting something up your vagina. Like a dick." I thought that was stupid, but I respected it. I had a sleepover last night and I'm still at her house now. I decided to use one of her tampons. It took a bit, but I finally got it in. Just a few questions though. Are you supposed to feel it? And I tried taking it out right after I put it in but it hurt really bad. Am I doing something wrong? And finally, will the string break??

Using tampons is no big deal. I think parents are being unreasonable when they compare a tampon to a penis. A valid reason for not wanting a child to use tampons would be the TSS risk if the parent felt the child wasn’t ready to use tampons properly.

Nobody should ever be shamed for wanting to use tampons. You cannot compare one to a dick 😒 
If you put it in and immediately take it out, it will hurt BC its too dry. You should not be able to feel it if its inserted properly, however, I would find it easy to believe someone just beginning to use them could feel it.

You shouldn't feel it, no (but to be honest I always sort of feel them).
If you try to take one out immediately, it is too dry and that's why it hurts. They're meant to stay in and absorb blood.
The string could break, but it's really no big deal. You'll just have to get your hands a little messy to reach in there and get it out. It won't get lost, don't worry. There's nowhere for it to go

If your not sexually active your hymen can hold the tampon in it lays down going in but pulls outward when removing promise you I have had a number of girl get them stuck and have to come to Er and there goes your hymen because we remove it for you...

If it hurt while you tried taking it out it’s probably because it was dry. The string won’t break. You’re 13 you should listen to your mom at the end of the day she’s the one that pays for them. How else are you going to get a hold of them. Maybe with your 15 or something you can start using them!

Are you on your period now ? Or did you just put it in to try it ?  It’s a new feeling so it will feel awkward at first but once you put it in properly you won’t feel it. Also, if you take it out right away it’ll still be kind of dry and that can cause it to hurt (like the previous comment said)
