Gastric Bypass?

Question

I'm really thinking about taking the necessary steps and getting gastric bypass surgery. Has anyone gotten the surgery before? If so can you tell me your experience or if you had anyone close to you get the surgery can you tell me about their experience. I know it's not a quick fix! But it will help me a lot.

I had it 7 months ago and am already down 169 pounds! it is amazing! I highly recommend it. although I regreted it for 6 weeks after I'm so greatful! just really hard to adjust.

This surgery requires an extremely rigorous diet change afterwards that you must maintain or else it will have complications. You will only be able to have VERY small amounts of food at first, and small amounts of liquid too. It requires a lot of dedication, you must prepare and measure your foods and stick it out. Reverting to your normal eating habits afterwards can cause the surgery to basically reverse itself.
This is a difficult journey, and you will need to adhere to the doctors plan and the proper eating habits. Removing a portion of the stomach, banding, or bypassing the stomach may result is digestive issues later on in life related to absorption of nutrients and the ability of your body to break down those foods correctly. You will need to discuss with your doctor about whether or not this is the right plan for you. They typically don’t just do this surgery because you want it. Depending on your current weight and health status, you may not be eligible for the surgery or they may require you to lose weight or go through lifestyle changes first. Please make sure that you speak at length with your doctor before deciding this is what you want.
