Is it right for jobs to discriminate names?
There’s been plenty of posts regarding the extra “unique” names like the ones with weird spellings. The majority of people including myself, say they’re stupid and unnecessary. But then there’s some that say if they were an employer they would throw a resume out if they saw a name like that on there. And I’m sure employers do that with names they feel are “unprofessional”. So my question is, is it right for employers to judge you solely on your name? Your name is something you have no control over since it’s given to you at birth and does not define the type of person you are. A person with the most “unprofessional” name could actually be the best worker at the company, while a regular named person could be the worst. In my opinion, if I were an employer, no matter how weird I think a name is, I couldn’t judge how professional someone is by only their name.
