Should a place of employment be able to control hair color and style if you work in IT and are not client facing and it’s not overly distracting for other employees? (For instance remote work.) Examples provided.

This is something on my mind a lot lately. I had asked my HR lady and she said she’d get back to me and is pretty lenient. Mine would be mostly natural color with some pretty vibrant red and blonde highlights. No biggy. But it got me thinking. Feel free to discuss other debatable items like piercings tattoos and appropriate dress ware.(For instance gothic in style but covers all appropriate skin and is not grungy or what have you.)
