Is it weird?

I had a miscarriage 5 years ago. I named the baby to help myself heal from the loss. I named him Jack. My fiance and I are now trying for a baby. His grandma is ill and might not have much longer. Her name is Jackie. Is it weird if we honor her by naming our child Jack if it's a boy, even though I already named the baby I lost "Jack"?

I would use it as a middle name but personally I would feel weird using it as a first name. But that is an incredibly personal decision.

I also had a miscarriage about 4 years ago and I absolutely love my daughter's name. No child I have will ever replace the daughter I lost but they will obviously be very loved. If it comes to it to where my husband and I can't come up with another girls name, he said he wouldn't mind naming our daughter after the daughter I lost. Only her first name though, she will have a different middle name.

Aw yes that is really sweet! It's a tribute to both your baby and grandma. The only thing to consider is if it would either be painful to you hearing the name so much or make the first baby seem less real once the name was given to the next.. just a thought!

I think it's a little weird, but it is certainly a personal decision.  If you can honestly call him that without thinking about your loss then go for it.  Otherwise it's a little masochistic, no?

I don't necessarily think it's weird. I personally wouldn't name the baby you're pregnant with now the same as the one you lost. 🤷 Maybe use it as a middle name. Everyone is different.
