Sexual assault and “revenge porn”

I read an article on the Atlantic today called “the humiliation of Aziz Ansari”. It was about the accusatory article against Ansari where a girl details her night with him (which you should read to understand the level of detail in question). The author called the accusation piece “3,000 words of revenge porn” and said “The clinical detail in which the story is told is intended not to validate her account as much as it is to hurt and humiliate Ansari.”

Not trying to debate whether or not it was actually assault etc etc, but it did get me thinking about what rights other people have to go into such detail about intimate encounters.

Do you consider this level of description to be “revenge porn”? Would your opinion change if she was accusing him of assault but he was (hypothetically) clearly innocent? What if she didn’t accuse him of anything but was making fun of how weird he was sexually? Can words alone be considered revenge porn? Do you think this level of detail is necessary for the #metoo movement since public opinion is such a big factor? What if she’s not accusing him of sexual assault but just “letting people know” that he behaves that way? Is it weird that we know this much about these events? LOADS OF SCENARIOS but mostly wondering if and when you think this level of detail is appropriate to release to the world.
