Climbing out of crib (and falling?) ?

Question

Just curious how common it is in the glow world for those who have experience their toddlers climbing out of the crib and falling down? My almost 2 year old has been pulling up to the top of the crib and pushing up with her toes but today she pulled up her legs and fell down. She has a scrape on her nose and mark on her forehead but I’m traumatized having her in the crib :/ I know it happens but I wish it didn’t happen. There’s got to be something for tall (and strong) toddlers. I think she’s too young for a toddler bed.

We put the mattress all the way to the ground when my son started climbing out and now he’s in a toddler bed as of two weeks ago - he will be 2 next month

Not voting because it’s kind of both - my husband was watching our (at the time) 16 month old and she started climbing out of the crib. He went to her room and caught her before she fell, but 2 days later, a toddler bed arrived and she’s been sleeping in it ever since. She’s now 23 months and has been doing just fine. There was a transition period of a few weeks where she’d get up in the middle of the night to play with her books and toys (that she now had access to), but since then - no problem :)

My 18 month old son did this. Climbed out twice and basically crashed to the floor. We honestly didn’t think he was ready for the toddler bed at all. And when we told family we were going to take the front rails off of his crib we were met with a lot of resistance. But the image of him just throwing his legs up over the railing (which literally happened in a second, neither me or my husband could really believe what we had woken up to) it was traumatizing. 
But needless to say my son will be 2 in a month and he really thrives in the toddler bed. We did buy that small bed rail for the side just in case he rolls in his sleep. But we have not had one problem since. And we actually notice he loves his bed, tries to play in it during the day and even sleeps better at night! 
Maybe if you have a crib that converts try to take the rails off. Worst case you can always put them back on if it doesn’t work out right now?
