Night feedings?

Anyone still feeding in the middle of the night? I never sleep trained my 14 month old so he usually wakes in the middle of the night. I just nurse him and go back to bed. This is our only nursing session these days. We co sleep. I want to be done with nursing but don't want cut him off cold turkey. I was thinking about having a bottle of milk in beginning instead of my boob but don't want to go downstairs at 1am to make it. Two questions- is this a good way to wean him off the last nursing session? And if so how can I keep his milk bottle at the right temperature in my bedroom? Wound a cooler be sufficient or do I need a legit fridge?

Yes, my daughter is also 14 months and still nurses, mostly just at night now, because she's still co sleeping in the bed with me. I think every once in a while she's truly hungry because she didn't get enough to eat close to bed time and now that she's toddling around all day and playing so much she's burning so many calories, and we're not giving her other milk in her diet yet. But most of the time she's just doing it for comfort and immediately goes to sleep without even really drinking. Unfortunately it's a sleep association and bad habit now. I'm looking for ways to break her from it and get her out of our bed soon. But part of me knows I'll also miss it and this season will have gone by so fast.

I wouldn’t go to a bottle but I’d do a sippy cup.  I weaned night time feedings first so she would sleep all night and since I didn’t nurse her before bed (she has a bowl of cheerios with whole milk and a cup with whole milk) she could put herself to sleep.  So then we were only nursing during the day but not to go to sleep for naps.  Now she’s completely weaned and goes to bed on her own and sleeps through the night.

Try a sippy cup of water. It’s just a habit now, not a need. She likely won’t want to wake up anymore if it’s only water offered.

I’ve read several sources that say that breast milk is naturally very resistant to bacteria. Personally I would feel comfortable taking a bottle out of the fridge before bed and leaving it on a nightstand, or a cooler seems totally fine. If you go the bottle route you can water it down a bit more each night.

She’s waking up because it’s a habit if you truly want to wean you need to be firm and not give in because your tired and it’s 1 am. If you don’t want to cut her off cold turkey then I would offer a small amount of water this will probably piss her off because she wants mommas milk not water and she’ll refuse it when she refuses it, it is crucial that you don’t give into her if you do it’s like taking one step forward and 3 back.
