What to do when daughter wants to have sex?

I am a parent and my daughter who is a senior in High School has been dating her boyfriend for 5 years. She has told me EVERYTHING about her relationship and i was wondering what would you do if she espressed her feelings about having sex? I did do it as a older teen and i understand her wanting to do it, but what would you do if this was your child?

I think that if she’s thinking or talking about having sex you should put her on birth control. I’m not a parent of a daughter but that’s what I would do. Also make sure she knows about std/STIs. They way I see it is they are going to have sex if they want to do its better safe than sorry.

If my child feels they are ready then I will educate them on everything they need to know. But I would stress on them that if they aren’t ready to start talking about kids then they are not ready to have sex. We all know mistakes can happen, so they will need to be a mature adult and talk to their significant other about what they would do if something WERE to happen. We don’t want to imagine our kids growing up but it’s happening and the best we can do is educate them on what’s to come.

She seems mature. She’s in a long term relationship, has told you everything and is almost an adult if she’s not already 18. I think it’s great that she expressed that to you. I mean, if you don’t support her in it she’ll probably do it anyways so I think it’s best if you take her to the doc and help her out with birth control options.

Well I'm 17, I have a bf of three years and we plan to be married in a few years, and I'm not allowed to date (obv I did anyways) I have very strict parents, I have slept with him once, I would just explain everything you could to her and make sure she's very clear on protection and maybe get her on a birth control if she wants? Just my opinion

As a teen in a similar position as your daughter I’d say congratulations to you both for being able to openly talk about sex. I wish I had that with my parents. I’ve talked to an older friend of mine with children and she told me that if one of her kids wanted to have sex then she would want them to be using protection and doing it somewhere safe because if you say no they’re likely to do it anyway and you don’t know if it’s being done safely.

Definitely make sure she's on birth control. Continue to be very open with her and it's a good possibility she won't hide things from you. Like someone else said, it's better safe than sorry.

Just don’t put her down on it  Make her feel welcome to talk to you about it and make sure shes safe. While I’m not a mother (I’m too young😂) that’s how I’d want it to be with my mother when I’m ready for sexual experiences.
