is there a time limit for gestational diabetes test?

i am not getting an appointment for my next doctors visit before my 28th week. will i be too late to be tested for gestational diabetes? i called and enquired kaiser directly but to no avail, they told me to bring all part results on my 28th week and then doctor will decide.

please suggest if there is any time bound on this test
