Toddler Bed ?

Hi! We’re about to welcome a little girl to our family so she’s gonna take the crib while our son transitions to a toddler bed, he’s a pretty wild one and definitely needs railing. I’m wondering what has worked best for you ladies and what seems the sturdiest? I want to be able to cuddle with him sometimes and sit on his bed to read stories and such so a weight limit of 50 doesn’t work for us

I "montessoried" my son's room and put a baby gate at his door when he was pretty young. He wakes up and is calmer with the freedom. He just cruise for a moment then decides to wreck his room/play with toys

We did a twin in a corner with a toddler rail. No head board or footboard just a frame.

I think we are going to skip to a twin bed with a low frame and a rail. We have a convertible crib but once we have our next one we’ll just keep them in the pack n play in our room until our son is ready to move up.

I bought him a regular low twin bed and a portable bed rail by Regalo. I'm not sure how old your son is, but fyi I'm expecting my 4th baby and I definitely prefer to keep toddler in the bed as long as possible. Naptime and bedtime can become a struggle, especially once baby arrives and they rebel a little. I just bought an inexpensive second crib or kept baby in a pack n play.

we legit got a second hand elmo toddler bed that had the one bar and fabric at the bottom to support the mattress. my fiancee cut a peice of plywood to fit there for better support and it holds my step son, his mattress, his million toys and blankets (he wont sleep unless half his bed is covered in cars) and my fiancee who is 200lbs, all at once with no worry.

We’re in the same boat. We considered doing a twin mattress on the floor to start, with one of those bed rails you put on a regular bed to keep him from rolling off, but if he managed to, at least it wouldn’t be too much of a fall. Our son is a wild sleeper as well. We would have put the mattress in a corner so the only open side would have been the bottom.  
Ultimately, we did go with a toddler bed because it was cheaper, but I’m wondering if we should have just gone with the mattress on the floor so we could lay with him.
