If your kid/Baby is messy at a restaurant, is it your responsibility to clean up or the restaurant staff?

I was at a restaurant with my son, family member, and her daughter. While we were there my 8 month old made a mess of his food and dropped utensils everywhere and when I started to clean it up my family member kept insisting that I leave the mess for the employees to clean up. I DID NOT just leave it and cleaned it up while she went ahead to the car, but it got me wondering if other people actually think it’s the responsibility of the restaurant to clean up. I personally think it’s my job as a parent. What are your opinions?
