Why do I think and act like this?

I struggle with this to some degree. 
The best thing to help is realizing that when you search for something to prove to you that he’s not worthy of your full trust, you live in an anxious world, waiting for the other shoe to drop. “The coward dies a thousand deaths, the brave but one.” Meaning, your anxiety kills you over and over. Living in a braver world of trust... if you end up being deceived, you only “die” when it actually happens. 
It doesn’t serve you to expect the worst. In fact, you can manifest your fear this way. 
Not to mention, people have a way of living up or down to your opinion of them. Treat him as though he would never hurt you, trust him completely, and he will try to live up to that expectation. 
I’m sure you also know insecurity is unattractive. Be confident, radiant, and a joy to be around. Then he wouldn’t even think of doing anything to disrespect you. If he did, it is 100% on him and the truth always comes out. Don’t seek it; it will present itself to you. Live in the blissful world of trust, and know that no matter what, you will be okay because you are amazing and worthy of pure love.

I'm in the same boat as you..I got out of a relationship more than a year ago. Started talking to this guy and things sounded like they were getting pretty serious. Then, the talking stopped. We both stopped reaching out to each other. It wasn't worth asking why things ended up like they did. I felt really used and unappreciated because replying to my messages was no longer a thing. When this was happening I HAD to tell myself that I'm not going to beg for communication or even just a friendship with them. Life goes on, pay attention to the little details. On my part, I started to see how they really were and it just wasn't worth the hurt. Don't get caught up in your feelings too early girl, you never know what will happen.
