How long is to long to wait on a proposal?

I've never made a post on here but I really need some outside opinions. My bf and l have been together going on 6 years. We have been through literally anything you can think of and we share everything. He talks about getting married but anytime l add to the conversation I feel he shuts it down. What do you think should I tell him how l feel or just wait it out?

Obviously tell him how you feel. If you wait it out, you will end up resenting him. You’re more than allowed to bring up marriage - you’ve been together for six years, that’s a really long time. You should be able to discuss a timeline with him.

That’s a long time. I personally would not wait that long. He should know by now if he wants to marry you. You need to give him an ultimatum. My husband proposed after a year and half. And I didn’t have to have a talk with him. It was a complete surprise.

Yes tell him. The relationship is yours just as much as it is his. You have just as much right as he does to decide where it’s going and when. If he shuts down, you should ask why. If he can’t answer, then he needs to figure out his answer and get back to you.
