Are promise rings pointless?

To me personally, I would say yes. I don't see the point in promising to get engaged to be married. I would want to be engaged or not. But to other people, especially younger or religious couples, it means a great deal and is a promise to be committed until they're old enough, secure enough, etc to commit to wed each other. It's not for me, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it.

I don’t think so, it’s a good symbolic gesture. I don’t see it as a promise for marriage so much as a promise to love them forever. I’m planning to get one for my boyfriend once I have the money to get him something nice.

I think they are honestly but that's just my opinion. I see no point in promising to get engaged to someone or to get married to someone. Just get engaged or get married, if you don't think you're ready for either then just wait.

I loved my promise ring. I was 19 when he gave it to me, I'm just shy of 28 and I still have the ring in my jewelry box. If I ever have a little girl I plan on giving it to her. To each their own.
