How do you introduce the new sibling?

My daughter is 1.5 yr and will be meeting her little sister in about 3 weeks (or less depending on when she decides to come). I’d love advice on how to introduce the newborn and ways to celebrate her being a big sister. She’s been so sweet lately carrying her baby doll around but I want to make sure she’s involved with the newborn also. Thanks!

I read once it's important for you not to be holding the new baby when the sibling enters the room.

Let baby be in hospital crib for the first time meeting. Show her the new baby then give one year old a hug. Tell her you love her and you got her a forever best friend. Put one yr on your lap and hold baby. (While your in your bed with family members on both sides for safety) hug them both at once. Maybe wait til you get home to let 1yr old hold her. Don't wanna do to much of sharing mommy in the first time meeting. Good luck. She will get used to it. Make her feel involved let het get you a diaper and throw the dirty away

What we did with my daughter was get plain white onesies and got her to decorate them with fabric markers. She was soo happy she made something for the baby and her jealousy subsided when we made her part of the arrangements. I would suggest letting your pick something out for her sibling, help you set up and always hug her even now and remind her you will love both equally and you appreciate all her help. Start now and when baby comes in definitely like others said, let her see baby in the room but not in your arms. She can look and say hi. Try to give them both equal attention. The first days are the most crucial for bonding. She will be fine

Give her a gift from the new baby. Then ask her if she wants to buy a gift for the baby. Let her choose a gift and bring it to the baby.

I just let her meet him. No big fanfare and nothing special. And she loves her baby brother.

I made sure to meet my older child outside of the room and to greet her like I would any other time (except I was really excited since I missed her!). 
She was mostly curious about me (why was I in PJs, did I have any boo-boos, what happened to my belly, etc). After a little bit of acting like nothing special had happened she asked to peek at her sister. She was pretty nervous so we downplayed it. Once we were home she was more comfortable and asked to hold her and sit with us. We did have a gift from baby that occupied her in the hospital while she visited. 
If your child acts uninterested or nervous just brush it off. If she’s excited then go with it. It’s a HUGE transition for everyone so just take it as it comes.
