So my boyfriend proposed two days ago and in my opinion his family doesn't seem very happy for us. His parents obviously knew he was going to propose he had spoken to them beforehand. The next day neither of his brothers said congratulations or even commented. His father jokingly said "well I guess I can't get rid of you now." And " now you have to grow up." Like what's that supposed to even mean. His mother asked me "did you say yes? Let me see the ring." And " don't go out on the streets with it you don't want to get robbed." They proceeded to have a barbecue but not to celebrate their son getting engaged and welcome me officially to the family. They had the barbecue to show off the work they did to their back yard. His grandma was the only one to give us a card and it was so sweet it brought me to tears. His aunt "forgot" and didn't say congratulations till his grandmother asked to see the ring.
