When he wants to talk just ask him whatever you want. Ask him how to best have a conversation with him that way you can find the cues as to when he will end up getting quiet. I’ve been dating a very introverted/quiet man for almost 12 years this summer. There are days when I bug the crap outta him because I’m talkative and he just looks at me like 😐😐 lol What’s even worse is our kids are just like me. But we make it work
