What's the 1st apt like?

Hi ladies,  
I'm currently 21 & pregnant with my 1st at about 7 weeks. what's the first appointment like? Hell! What's every appointment like? What do I need to expect?

The first appt is really just a confirmation appt. and a bunch of new patient paperwork. Nothing to get too excited about. 🤷‍♀️

My first appointment started with me peeing in a cup, then a medical assistant weighed me, took my BP and HR, and asked me questions about my LMP, health history, and lifestyle. Shortly thereafter, we went in for our first ultrasound to confirm and date the pregnancy. They determined I was 8 weeks along. We got to see and hear baby's heart beat, and they gave us 4 ultrasound photos. Then they assigned us an exam room, and had me put on a paper gown. After that, it was a waiting game, because my OBGYN always overbooks. It was an hour and 15 minute wait to see the doctor after I got to my exam room, which sucked because I was in the paper gown the whole time and it was pretty cold in there! Finally the doctor came in. We saw her for 10 minutes, and she didn't really give me the opportunity to ask the 20 questions I'd written down in advance (FTM!), though next time, I'll insist she answer them, since that's kinda what she's there for, right? She basically asked me a few questions, and looked at my hoo-hah. Then I had some blood drawn, and they sent me on my merry way. Second appointment is a week away!

So my first appt was different for both my pregnancies. The first times at 8 weeks they did a transvaginal ultrasound to date the pregnancy and make sure it’s where it’s supposed to be, took blood (testing for HIV, hepatitis, blood type, etc), did Pap smear, gave information about pregnancy, do’s and don’ts, etc  and answered questions. 
This time my first appt at 7 weeks was with a nurse. They took blood for all the tests and gave me information. Then I went back at 8 weeks with the midwife and did the transvaginal ultrasound and Pap smear. 
All the appointments after that will be: pee in a cup, take vitals and answer any questions. Once you get further along they’ll start measuring your uterus to monitor growth. It’s not very exciting lol.

Every doctors office is different but my first appointment we did an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. This is also usually transvaginal. She did a full pelvic exam as well as a full body exam real quick. Then I went and had my blood drawn! After that at the normal monthly appointments they will make you pee in a cup every time to check for proteins in the urine. Take your blood pressure and weight then do a quick visit with the doctor for any questions and she will use a Doppler to find the babies heart rate. Then I got my next ultrasound at 19 weeks for the anatomy scan!
