Went for my 38 W 5 day appointment today and my Dr asked me how I felt about getting induced. Told her I’d obviously consider it if it was medically necessary but never thought to routinely induce. She mentioned my baby is 7.5 lbs and will be at least 8.5 if I wait. I said O-K, and...?! Long story short, she couldn’t give me a clear reason as to why she wanted to induce me. Come to find out from the nurse, my Dr is taking vacation the end of next week and is “trying to get everyone done” As much as Id prefer her to deliver my child considering I’ve been seeing her the entire pregnancy, I’m not sure I’m comfortable rushing my baby to accommodate the Drs vacation plans.

Anyone know the cons of a routine/non-medically necessary induction? Would you induce if not medically necessary?
