What does it feel like to be dilated

Did anyone notice a change in sensation in between appointments when you were not dilated and then you were? I’ve been feeling weird twinges down there that sort of feel like a muscle pull. Is that dilation or just baby and gravity? 🤔

With the first I didn't really feel anything out of the ordinary. Just slight pressure in my pelvis. I went in for my 37 week appointment and was dilated at 5cm and felt great that day . I was running errands all over town before my appointment.

I think I know what you are talking about. I am 36 weeks + 6 days today. I've been feeling "pinches" on my cervix. Is that what "lightening crotch" is? Or is that what dilation feels like? Or am I just odd and no one knows what I am talking about? 😅

I was closed at 39 weeks exactly, and yesterday at 39+4 I was 1.5cm. I didn’t think I was gonna be dilated at all because I hadn’t felt anything different. So for me I didn’t feel any sort of dilation

I don’t know if this was actually the feeling of dilating, but I started having sharp pains or “lightening crotch” around 35 weeks, and at 37 weeks was 1cm dilated. The lightening crotch def was worse during week 37, and at my 38 week checkup I was at 2cm. So maybe those pains contributed or were partly me feeling dilation?🤷🏼‍♀️ Good luck mama!

I didn't know what was happening but could feel baby grinding head down on pubic bone. I was at 1cm when they checked me. Baby kept this up for another week and the next check I was almost at 3cm. So for me it was feeling the baby and having "lightening crotch"
