Making massage therapy into a career of mine

I really want to become a massage therapist and make it a career for myself. My husband and i will be living on base since he is in the military.. so financially, we will be okay. But i feel like i need to go to college and get some sort of degree only because ive been told its the only step to take to get a job in anything that pays you good. Any advice?
