Advice needed after failed IVF...

Amber

Hello ladies! I am in need of advice and wondering if anyone has been in the same position (as I'm sure many have been).

As background, my husband and I have been actively trying x2 years to get pregnant. After going off birth control (took for 12 years), I had horrible acne, very irregular periods (at one point went 6 months without) and many other symptoms. After exploratory laparoscopic surgery and ovarian drilling, I was diagnosed with PCOS. Started going to an infertility clinic, and had a failed IVF cycle in December. Of course I am absolutely devastated, and we could not afford it the first time. We are now in a lot of debt. Next time will be even more expensive, as ICSI will be required. Husband's sperm is excellent, my eggs are apparently as hard as bricks, and sperm could not penetrate them. They believe it is from chronically high levels of LH. This is why I was having positive ovulation tests, but was never actually ovulating 😔. We were hoping to get enough back on taxes to pay off most of the remaining debt, and then be able to try again in April. Sadly, we will not be getting as much as we thought back, and this will not be possible.

My question is whether I should stop the birth control, and try for a miracle on our own (now that I've made extreme dietary and lifestyle changes for PCOS, including attempting to get rid of BPA), or if it is better to stay on the birth control to keep my hormones regulated until we can afford IVF again. August would be the earliest, but it may end up being a year or more. The MD wanted me to take BC when I was going to do the April cycle, because it was so soon, to keep my cycle regulated for the IVF cycle. But now I have no idea what to do. I know that a natural pregnancy would be a long shot, but it's absolutely impossible on BC. Before IVF, I had a ton of follicles, but they never grew near enough to ever ovulate. I have also been taking metformin since last March, and am currently taking multiple supplements.

So sorry for the long post! Any advice/comments/stories at all are appreciated! Thank you for reading! 💜
