I got the flu shot, and while my husband and daughter both got the flu, I did not.

Labor and delivery nurse here.  This is the worst year I've seen even for pregnant moms.  I got the flu shot in October and I still got influenza A January 1st.  My husband got it first he was way sicker and lasted longer than mine.  He did not get the flu shot.  Mine lasted 2-3 days but really only kicked me down for 2.  He was down and out for 7 days and very sick.

You technically get the flu after the flu shot so your body learns how to be immune to it.
