How many have a summer home?

I'm just trying to see how many people have a second homes that they never use?

I live in a rented apartment and I own a property that I don’t live at but calling it a “second home” would be a big stretch. It’s a 70 year old structure that is mostly gutted, I basically use it a a camp ground where I can get out of the city.

I personally don’t, but my parents do. And I wouldn’t call it a second home they never use. They built the cabin three years ago (they’ve been working on being able to afford one for years and certainly have spent enough time earning money and doing things for their kids to have their own personal dream) and it’s now where we go for Christmas and they spend the summers there too. It’s on a lake and out in the woods so it’s not practical to live there all year. But they love the place and worked really hard to afford it. The plan is to move in full time when they retire, but for now it’s their summer/Christmas home that is built to hold a bunch of future grandkids and all their kids and their spouses. Summer homes aren’t always something people just have and leave alone- they can be very well used by families.
