stuff animal rescue?

Question

ok long story short: 
baby puked all over a stuff animal that is dear to him. it has a sound piece in it so i cant wash it. i cant even open the stuffy. the fur is all sticky and it smells horrendous. my child is very upset and wont go to bed because he doesn’t have it. what can i do?
i can’t just tell him no btw we are dealing with a 11 month old and he is sick. so again send help

If it were me I’d either wash it and sacrifice the sound piece inside it, or cut out the sound piece, wash the animal, then sew and re-stuff it. 
My son has a stuffy dragon that he refuses to sleep without so I know your pain.

I’d hand wash it with a warm wash cloth that isn’t soaked but not to dry then finish it with wipes that’s what I did for my daughter. You can also mist it with fabric softener after to help with the smell but not cover it in it. I had to and it worked perfectly. I didn’t give it back till it was dry. Can dry it with a hair dryer to speed up the process.

I have washed build a bear animals with sound pieces in them before, and they still worked. It isn’t ideal, but when it’s a choice between the sound not working and the animal harboring germs—- I pick clean over sound.

What about those dry clean bags you put in the dryer? You could do it on low heat so it doesn't melt the sound piece. I would get all the chunks off with wipes and then put it in the Dryell bag on low heat and hope for the best!

You can sit in the sun to prob get rid of some of the smell. Similar to how you clean car seat straps

Hand wash it!!!! Or use an old toothbrush and scrub it with some soap and water. Then lay it out to dry

My son had something similar and I washed the toy and let it air dry. When he was 15 months he took his diaper off and smeared poop all over it though and it would not come clean after that so I threw it out and that was the end of it! He is now 8 and has no memories of the stuffed animal so if you have to throw it out, they will get over it!

I’d do a wet soapy washcloth and wash it the best you can and then maybe spray it with Lysol to kill any left over germs before giving it back. But I agree with others saying clean over sound!!

use baby wipes and scrub it really good. it should clean it and take the smell away
