Is it a dog-eat-dog world?

Another poll inspired by conversations here on CC! Do you think it's a dog eat dog world? Are most people ruthless and untrustworthy? How does this affect how you live your life/interact with others?

I can’t read the full text of the choices, but no life doesn’t have to be that way. I’ve seen both remarkable acts of empathy and compassion in my life, and I’ve dealt with total assholes. We all have the ability to decide how we want to treat others.

I think it’s about half and half. There’s this quote that I absolutely love though: 
“The majority of people are borderline sociopaths who'd step over your corpse to get a better parking space, and yet they won't hesitate to pass howling judgement on you if you screw up in even the most minute, insignificant way. Just one more reason to not screw up. Ever.”
It’s pretty pessimistic but it makes me laugh a bit and has some truth to it.

I honestly do believe that people are generally not out to harm you - that most people are at worst indifferent to you, and just want to get on with their lives. There are a million small acts of kindness going around us every day that we'll never notice. It's easy to notice the people who act like sociopaths, because those things stand out and shocking, but they are not the majority. 
Maybe not everyone is actively good, but I don't think they're evil either. Maybe they won't leave you a note if they put a dent in your car, but neither will they deliberately try to damage it or rummage through it if you left it unlocked. A few people might, but they are the minority.

No, I don’t think it is. My life was never that way. Growing up very poor I met many gracious people. An Indian woman down the street gave me 4 very expensive dresses from India because I couldn’t afford any for my diversity presentation in Girl Scouts. That meant a lot to me because I was half white half Native but looked totally white. She could’ve just told me to F off and go buy some but she told me to keep them after and continue to use them for education. I got lost on a ferry boat at age 5 and ended up asking a biker if I could have some of his ice cream because I was hungry and he shared it with me until my grandparents and authorities found me. At 14 a rich woman let me live in her million dollar home in exchange for my company, she gave me very expensive perfumes, clothes, animals, etc all free of charge. Etc. 
My present life has always been about helping the natural world, helping my cats, volunteering at women’s shelters and humane societies, etc. I have only ever met the most gracious people in all of my areas of life and I have always strived to be a positive person in return. I’m the person who will let you cut me off at rush hour without blowing my horn or even getting angry. Everything to me is “No big deal”. I always correct myself on negative thoughts and now I am able to see everyone as what they are without jealousy or competitiveness. 
My life is very peaceful. I’ve had people tell me that they don’t understand how positive I am even in very tense situations, but I do wholeheartedly believe the energy you put out is what is circled throughout others and given back to you. I find that many people who find the world to be extremely cutthroat are pessimists and actually enjoy being angry in general. I think it can also have a lot to do with work environment as well. I recently started Konmari in every area of my life and it has completely improved my mindset and the energy of my personality and home. I can’t ever see myself being angry again let alone thinking of the world as dog eat dog. That’s just not how I’ve experienced it.

From the way the world seems to be today, it looks that way! I personally try really hard not be that type of person but it's honestly tough sometimes. You can't trust people anymore, not even family 😐 I understand that life is tough but jeez, that doesn't mean you push everyone else down & step on them in order to reach your own success.

I like to think that everyone at their core has good in their heart . That might make me naive and stupid but I truly believe all people are good because everyone has the capacity to love and be compassionate
