Is an hour to the hospital I want to deliver at too far away? FTM.

This is my first successful pregnancy, I’m 26 weeks and I LOVE my doctor. However, the only hospital she delivers at is about 45 minutes away with no traffic, an hour to an hour and a half with traffic and the further along I get the more nervous the distance makes me. Not that it means I will be the same, but my mom had my sister and I both in about three hours. Any thoughts are appreciated!

If you love your ob then stick with that hospital! My hospital was literally 2 min away but my first took 40+hrs to have him and my second took 9 to have her! But all pregnancies are different; your baby could come in 5 min for 2 days it's how comfortable you are with the distance

labor typically takes a long time so if you go there right away you should be fine. my cousin went into labor in the car during a move😮 she was stuck in the car for 8 hours before the closet hospital. what a warrior😅

Ours was an hour away. Our doc said we could come in before the contractions got to five minutes apart if it made us more comfortable. We got there with PLENTY of time to spare.

Be very careful with that. With my first we lived 45 minutes away from hospital and we barley made it in time to have her there. I literally didn’t even have time to put on a gown.

I travelled almost an hour for the hospital and doctors I liked with my 2nd. I birth quickly so I planned accordingly. I got there in very early labor (I wouldn't normally go in so early) instead of active labor. Active was only 3 hours so I'm glad I wasn't travelling during that.

when i was pregnant with my daughter. my ob was 1and half hours away if u hit traffic on the 98 well it could take 3 to 4 hours to get there .I stuck with my doctor and everything was fine .

I think it’s fine. That’s about how far away our hospital is. If you have a doctor you love and like the hospital, I say go for it!

Well in a typical situation you’ll start having contractions but they won’t be close enough together to justify going to the hospital yet. So you’ll have to time them, when your contractions start getting more frequent and closer together go ahead and leave and head towards the hospital. If it’s an hour drive you may be far enough along to get a room once you get there 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think it should be okay, the nearest hospital that has a maternity ward for anyone in my village is about 45 mins drive away (without traffic) and most women here manage okay with that😊

My hospital in my small town they no longer give births so I have to make sure I am at the next hospital over which is about a half hour drive . (Currently living with my parents ) so when labour starts , we’re going to go see if it’s real contractions then if so we’re going to the town over and getting a hotel then we will only be a 10 min drive through the city.. I love the doctor that will be there and it’s my only option so I have to stick with it . But if u love your doctor I don’t see a problem with it :)
