Does anyone know if I can go into my second IUI consultation and tell them right off that I want a fully medicated cycle of IUI?
We’ve had a consultation before & was immediately turned off by the mention of clomid, monitoring, and timed intercourse. I’ve been on clomid before and it didn’t work, we’ve been having timed intercourse for the past 6 years.
We know exactly what we want and are aware of the risk of getting pregnant with multiples. Our 2nd consultation is next Friday & I just want to know if it’s worth paying another $250 (it’s been 2 years since our last visit) to plead our case or will they disregard our wishes?

State what you are looking for. You have records of Clomid not working. So push for what you want. Good luck.

I would hope you would be able to. Based on our circumstances and age, we were able to go in and opt to completely skip IUI and go straight to IVF. Suggest expressing exactly what you want. As other responders have mentioned, you have proof of what has and hasn’t worked. Good luck!!

Definitely. You are the customer here. If you are self pay, then there’s no excuse for not hearing you out. (Insurance often requires a certain number of attempts before stepping up to the next level.) I would calmly and strongly say what I want and why. If the doctor says no, and doesn’t have a valid reason, I’d find a new doctor. As long as you are willing to deal with the additional monitoring appointments, I can’t see why a doctor would object.
