Dad not involved in pregnancy? 😕

Question

I want to start out by saying I have an amazing, supportive, wonderful husband and I in no way mean to downsize him!
However, since getting pregnant, he has just been treating me... normal. I really thought he would be the type that be super involved, talking about baby and wanting to shop, baby names, rubbing my belly, the whole nine yards. But so far, nothing or just acts neutral. 🤷‍♀️
I have made joking comments about him not rubbing the belly, etc, but he’ll just like give it a pat and laugh it off. 😞 I don’t know if he is still scared it is isn’t real, or what! We are 16.5 weeks and find out gender in a couple weeks. 
Has anybody else been through this? It’s not like he is being mean or anything, I just wish he was more involved so I don’t feel like I am nuts. He makes ME feel like the kid’s not in there sometimes! 🤯

It didnt really set in / register for my SO until he could feel the baby. He felt more involved / excited at that point when he could actually see and feel the baby moving.

I’m having a csection in 6 days and my husband is still really not treating me any different. He will ask how I’m doing.. but really only because I’ll be moaning from the other room 😂 I told him to feel my belly today because she was really squirming and he said Ugh I can never feel her move and lasted about 3 seconds. Honestly I think he is so freaked out about her being in my stomach that he doesn’t know how to act. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My husband is like this. He’s not very expressive with his feelings, although he does care and shows it in his own way. Once baby arrives he’s much more involved. He’s actually said with our first that he didn’t like feeling my stomach/the baby move because it freaks him out, lol 😂 
Definitely let him know how you feel, but be prepared for him to express his feelings in his own way.

my husband didn't get involved until I was around 27 weeks
we had suffered 3 miscarriages before this pregnancy so I'm thinking he just didn't want to get attached, but up until that point he didn't really talk about her or want to touch my belly or anything, now he's all over my belly and super excited for her to come soon (I'm alittle over 35 weeks now)

We talked about it last night and he said he is just trying to take it all in and that the baby is pretty much all he thinks about ❤️ I told him that I just need him to talk to me about it more so I know he is into it and I am not alone in my feelings. He proceeded to cuddle with me and talk about the baby for an hour in bed 😭 I don’t know how I was lucky enough to find this guy 😭 he is going to be such an amazing dad

yeah I had the same thing I thought my husband would be really involved and he ended up getting so freaked out he took the baby a year before he really got involved

My husband was the same way. It's a big change and a lot to take in. Don't be too discouraged. It'll be better once the baby is actually here.
