When is it okay to let your baby sleep with a loose blanket?

I’ve gotten lots of shit about this and would love peoples full opinion on what they do or would do or have done!

NO! absolutely not until after a year. it is a serious SIDS risk, they have SAFE wearable blankets for babies..no reason to be stupid and throw a loose blanket in the crib or basinett that could kill your child..

Definitely after 1 year. Buy a sleep suit/sack if you think they’re not warm enough. It’s not worth finding your child dead

There was a 7 month old baby who died last year because of a blanket in the crib. The baby got tangled and suffocated. You can look up the mothers heartbreaking story online. There’s so many other ways to keep your baby warm without compromising their safety. My babies safety is something I never messed around with.
This is just my opinion but use your own judgement for what you’re comfortable with as a mom.

In Norway it’s the norm that babies sleeps with blankets/duvets. So my little boy started a few hours after birth at the hospital. 
During naps I’ll often lay the wool blanket under him, and loosely lay the extra blanket over him, so if he starts to move he will only knock the blanket away. At night we do the same, but with a duvet over. Both the blanket and duvet are sized to fit a baby.

After one year is probably fine but my kids move a lot in their sleep (my son would end up on the opposite side of the crib more often than not) so I prefer sleep sacks

My daughter sleeps with her blanket if we are awake and supervise through the camera. When we go to sleep we take it away, which unfortunately makes her not sleep as well ☹️
