Finally my birth story😅💕
Birth has always intimidated me, but the last couple weeks I couldn’t have wanted it more. Around 35 weeks my blood pressure slowly started to elevate. I began to go to triage every week or so for high blood, and each time they would send me home. At 38 weeks I was sent to the hospital by my doctor because they found protein in my urine and an elevated blood pressure, my labs came back normal as always but sent me home with 24 hour urine collection.
At this point my doctors opinions were all over the place, it was getting super stressful. The following day when I turned in the labs they called me to tell me I had preclamsia. I was to be induced that night at 7. My husband is stationed 10 hours from me since I stayed with my family to have the baby here before moving up there by ourselves, because of his job it was likely he wouldn’t make it to the birth. This was extremely hard on me because I had spent the entire pregnancy away from my husband. I went in that night and they put in Cervidil at 8 to start the process. An hour later there was a loud pop and I knew my water had broke, I had planned to get an epidural the whole time. Around 12, is when I got checked and was already 3 cm dilated. I was having contractions 2 minutes apart, begged for an epidural and then was told 30 min later that it would be a while because someone had just come in 8 cm dilated. After that time had passed with my contractions still back to back they came back in my room only to tell me another person had come in at 8cm. I was freaking out, the pain wasn’t manageable at all. My nurse then came back in 2 minutes later with the anesthesiologist (he squeezed me in) thank god. Didn’t feel a pinch or anything, but after a while I didn’t feel much relief either, I had to get a stronger dose over the next couple hours and dilated all the way to 8cm on my own at 6 in the morning. Every time they checked me though my son was still too high up to be at the dilation I was at, they told me I’d most likely have a c-section. They went ahead and started me on pitocin around 10 and then continued to check me until 12:30, my nurse then told me I would have a c section and to prepare myself and ask if I had any questions. For some reason we came upon the agreement to try practice pushed to get him down. I started this at 1, by this time my epidural had completely worn off. I pushed until 2:30 and felt that I couldn’t go on anymore, I needed some help because of the pain and that he wasn’t progressing past a certain point. I agreed to forceps; as my doctor applied them I was told to push and the nurse next to me got on top of the bed and did some sort of maneuver, where she basically pumped down on my uterus. (Felt like the uterus massages they give to clot but times 100). He finally came out at 3:08 pm weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces. I ended up having a 2nd degree tear, and being traumatized to ever give birth again. But he’s such a cute little baby
