I had zero issues with my Mirena. No bleeding after insertion, no period for 3 years, and no bleeding i removal. I ovulated 2 weeks after removal and got AF 2 weeks after that. My friend has had the same good experience. My sister’s, however, got embedded and had to be surgically removed. Everyone has a different experience and it’s up to you if it’s worth the risk or not.

Only reason I didn’t like mirena was because of the hormones. I switched to paraguard and had it in for 6 years and had zero issues. I’ll be getting back on it after I have baby#2. Everybody is different though.

My Mirena perforated my uterus and I had to have it surgically removed.

I gained 30 lbs in 45 days and my hair started falling out in giant chunks. My sister also experienced weight gain though not as severe but hers was accompanied by suicidal/depressive thoughts.
