Learning to live with PMDD w/psychotic features
Hi! I am Katii. I was diagnosed with PMDD about a week ago. I have a long history of psychiatric hospitalizations and so many diagnoses have been thrown around, in particular those related to my psychosis. It was first schizo affective disorder, then BP1 with psychotic features, then schizophrenia. However my new psychiatrist I feel nailed the diagnosis on the head. I usually hallucinate during the PMS week of the menstrual cycle. And all my hospitalizations, I have gotten my period a weekish later.
I have a history of like, debilitating cramps. Nothing stops them, not even Midol or Pamprin and even if it could, I usually throw them up because when I’m in pain I get nauseous:(
BUT yeah. Usually not a fun night when it happens. It’s like 2-3 hours of screaming and crying. And it’s been that way since I was young.
Anyways! I don’t really know anything about PMDD. I know the medical stuff, but I don’t know anyone living with it.
How do you cope? What medicines help you guys? I’ve been on almost every antipsychotic in the book. Seeing a gyn because my doc said we should try hormonal methods. I was on the nuvering but it didn’t do anything. I am seeing a gyn that specializes with victims of sexual assault, but I’m really scared.
Thanks for listening!
