I posted a while back about writing a book about a black assassin chasing Jack the Ripper (jack the ripper is queen elizabeths bastard half brother) and what do you guys think of this excerpt? It’s supposed to be right after the main character (don’t know name yet that’s why there is a ? Next to sage) accepted the mission from queen Elizabeth. It’s a conversation between her best friend/(not blood) family.

“I can take care of myself for God’s sake.” She spat at him. She turned to the table before her and began tucking knives into her suit.

“I-I know that Sage(?), but-“

“No!” She whirled around to face him, face twisting in anger, “No buts Lorenzo. I don’t need or want your sympathy or worry or whatever the bloody h*ll it is you’ve got going on.” She walks up to him, inches away, tilting her face up so there eyes meet, “I have been on my own for ten years and I’m still alive. I don’t need anyone trying to butt their way into my life trying to mess it all up.”

Something like hurt flickers in his eyes, she turns walking away, but then she feels him grip her arm. She turns to face him., “Alright. Just know that you’ll have no where to go once you’re done.” He says through gritted teeth.

“Let go of me.” She whispers threateningly. He stares at her for a moment more before letting go. He strides out the door, not looking back, disappearing into darkness.
