Finally!!!

Casi

I’m so happy that it’s FINALLY my turn to share my birth story, after reading everybody else’s and being soooo jealous 😭

At 36 weeks i got my first cervical check, i was 1/2 a cm. i thought to myself “well this good, i still have a month to my due date”. At 37 weeks it was still the same, and at 38 weeks still no change. I didn’t get checked at 39 weeks due to my doctor being at the hospital delivering a baby. My due date was february 9th, so when i went to the doctor at 39w 4d they set my induction for the 9th at 9pm. i started to lose my mucus plug that day, and kept losing more and more of it the next day. On the 8th i had my bloody show and was super excited hoping my body would go into labor and i wouldn’t have to be induced! sure enough at 12:40am on the 9th i started to have contractions! By 2am i was at the hospital, and i was 3cm dilated. I was having back labor so it was hard for me to sit still, so they allowed me to start walking around to make it a little less hard on me and to see if it would help me dilate more. It helped so much, and i dilated to a 5 so they kept me! They moved me to a room, and pretty much as soon as we got in there my husband fell asleep 😂 they started an IV, got the fluids going and said they’d be back in to check me in an hour! They came back, asked if i wanted an epidural (i said yes) and within 10 minutes the anesthesiologist was in to give it to me. I was scared to death but that back labor was KILLING me. Once i got it i didn’t understand why i was so scared because in all honestly the iv hurt way worse than the epidural did. Once i got the epidural we called our families to let them know that I was in labor and now 6cm dilated. around 10am they brought in some pitocin, and the nurse said her guess was that our baby girl would be here around 3-330. Everytime they would come check my cervix my husband would get sick and leave the room, and our baby would move away from the heartbeat monitor. They ended up sticking something to her head (which she got off multiple times) to monitor her that way. 4pm came around and i was 8cm, i was so excited i was getting so close to meeting my baby! Then i started to feel some pressure in my back, that pressure turned to pain. My epidural wore off (just in my back) so i started to feel my contractions again. I told my nurse, she got the anesthesiologist back in there to give me more medicine hoping it would help. I was feeling like it wasn’t helping, but it made me fall asleep for about 30 minutes. I woke up still feeling contractions just not as bad as I was. At 6pm I was 10cm and ready to push! I finally gave birth to the most beautiful little girl i’ve ever laid my eyes on at 7:27pm.

Harbor Rose was 7lbs 2oz and 20 inches long! I was holding her and just bawling my eyes out because i never knew i could love someone so much. I must have got lost in time because 20 minutes later i realized they were still stitching me up. I asked what was going on and he told me i had a 1st degree tear but everytime they tried to stitch it, it would just rip my tissue. i was bleeding alot, starting to get scared, and still crying because me and my husband actually made this perfect little girl. He finally got it to stop 10 minutes later and when I sat up my blood was all over the floor. I didn’t feel faint or anything, thankfully i felt fine! They monitored me to make sure the blood loss wasn’t affecting me, and once the epidural wore off i was sent to my post partum room. It was one of the most amazing experiences i’ve ever had. ❤️
